The Wrong Ingredient(s)

Most people can appreciate the simple pleasure of desserts like that of a warm pan of freshly baked brownies, but would you ever eat those brownies if someone added a tiny spec of dog poo into the batter? The answer is a resounding NO because the reality is even a tiny bit of the wrong ingredient can spoil something that was meant to be good. The same principle applies to your life: do not allow “specs” of toxic elements to spoil your potential. Ingredients, even in small amounts, such as destructive relationships, poor character decisions, or neglecting your spiritual walk with God can compromise the highest and best for your life, by subtly pulling you off course and without correction the “spec”grows.

Matthew 6:33  But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.

Cycling App- Attention To Details

It’s easy to move too quickly and miss the details in life that matter most. We often encounter things that seem fine on the surface but end up leading us astray because we overlooked or misinterpreted the fine print. Take, for instance, a real-life story about an unnamed buddy of mine who purchased the “cycling” app which was actually designed for female health rather than a morning bike ride! While that mix-up was funny at the expense of a close (male) friend it also points to a great life lesson, and  highlights a deeper truth: we must evaluate everything thoroughly—from our jobs to our relationships—before moving forward. Remember to stay grounded in prayer and always put Christ at the center of your decision-making. Period!

Are You A Fruit Fly Or A Bloodhound

The fruit fly is a pesky little fly that is apt to be seen in mid-summer to early fall. They are enticed by the sweet smells of ripening or rotten fruits and vegetables that permeate the air. Their desire for sweet things can also be an advantage…..for the home-owner that is. You see, remediating the problem can be as simple as setting the right bait. Take an 8oz plastic water bottle and cut it in half. Flip the top half over and slide it down into the bottom half creating a funnel, leaving a little space at the bottom for fluid. Pour a few tablespoons of apple cider vinegar through the funnel and into the bottom along with a drop or two of dish detergent and you halve yourself a failsafe trap. The fruit flies smell the sweet smell of the vinegar and enter the narrow hole of the funnel down toward the apple cider vinegar where they get trapped and cannot find their way out. Even worse, they attempt to drink a little of the sweet vinegar and get stuck to the solution because the detergent strengthens the surface tension of the liquid. Problem solved! The bloodhound is known as a large scent hound. Most people are familiar with their howl-like bark and droopy ears. Unlike the fruit fly, they are a very gifted species and are known to be excellent hunting dogs and renowned for their ability to find what was lost. They sense things from afar and skillfully navigate the territory without getting ensnared or misguided regardless of the terrain. They stay focused and on task and are not deceived by impulsive and misguided decisions driven by their senses. Remember that things will be placed in front of you that look right and seem good but in actuality can take you off course and lead you down the wrong path. Seek Godly Truth and move forward in an informed manner because there are many things that are enticing to this generation but only lead to dangerous and misguided pathways.
